shrimp boil, too

Oooooh man, this was SO delicious! The picture doesn't do it justice at all. Simple dish, shrimp sauteed in butter and sprinkled with cajun spices, over rice pilaf. Dave kept it relatively light because, well...because he did :-)

We had dinner late last night...went for a long walk in the woods and should've put this in the oven before we left. Oh well!

Dinner before...

after

after! Pot roast with potatoes, carrots and green beans, smelled amazing and tasted even better!

Last night, Dave made buffalo chicken sausage, roasted cauliflower with lemon & garlic (thanks to my friend Karen who texted me that morning and said she'd finally tried it and loved it which put me in mind of it) and rice pilaf:

For dessert, we had a mini mince pie...first time Dave ever had mince and he loved it!

Last night, neither of us felt like cooking...so we headed to Five Guys. Have you been there? Best burgers & fries around!

burger and fries from Five Guys...yum!

I had half of the one in the picture and gave the other to Dave. Mine had pickles, mushrooms (love that they used 'shroom LOL), ketchup & mustard on it; his had cheese, mayo, onion, lettuce, tomato & jalapeno. How do I remember? I took a picture of the receipt!

Why? To send to my friend Pat who hates all condiments and accompaniments on burgers. She likes meat and bread, amen.

dinner

Simple roast chicken, with basmati rice (I added soy sauce and a tiny bit of butter to mine) and steamed summer squash (lol wrote squarsh first!). For dessert, we had a couple tiny clementines.

asparagus mushrooms rice steak tips
This was SO delicious!!! Mixed mushrooms sauteed with asparagus, toss in some leftover steak tips, served with Seeds of Life 7 Grain rice and [not shown] rainbow swiss chard. YUMMY!!! I have leftovers today, along with some roasted acorn squash & carrots leftover from another meal.

I had a dream about this meal, and Dave recreated it for me...using the very bowl that was in my dream that I did NOT mention to him. Weird, eh?

distractions, distractions!

Here's a shot of last night's dinner:

cranberry-orange marmalade glazed chicken

Dave used a cranberry-orange marmalade glaze mixed with a bit of salt, pepper, rosemary and garlic, and he put some basil underneath the skin...it was delicious! Served with brussels sprouts and a steamed potato with sour cream. Yum!

Last night, I wasn't feeling too well, so Dave made himself a steak. It looked so good that I had to have a taste!

Steak and beans

He heated up some beans to go along with it. I joked he should've had those with the hotdogs...how our traditions are engrained!

hot dogs

Last night "was use up ingredients before the expiration date" (yes, hotdogs expire!). We like Hebrew National 97% fat free dogs! They come 7 to a pack, and there are 8 crescent rolls, so the last roll gets spritzed with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Dessert cooks along with the meal, brilliant!

Low fat hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls and dipped in Coleman's mustard

No veggies or even beans, bad bad bad. We took a nice long walk after dinner though!

Dinners with Dave!

Since my other blog seems to have gone quietly to sleep for the mo...and since all I've been doing is posting pictures...and since Dave makes some amazing dinners...I thought I'd feature those dinners here!

Dave cooks simply. A roast, a chop, a steak, trout, the occasional pierogi, all of it delicious, seasoned perfectly and beautifully plated.

Think I'm kidding? Here...check this out:

pierogi with asparagus and mushrooms

I picked up a package of pierogies at Wegmans (love that store) the other day, and Dave cooked 'em up along with some asparagus and mixed mushrooms. It was sooo good!
